Microsoft offers support for Hotmail and Windows Live emails that can be synchronized by the Mail applications on your iPhone. How to Setup Hotmail or Windows Live Mail on Your IPhone
- Go to the control panel on the iPhone and select the “Mail, Contacts, and Calendars” option.
- Select “Accounts” and then select “Add Account”.
- Select “Other” in the resultant screen.
- Fill in the details pertaining to your account. Enter your name in the Name box. In the Address Box, input your hotmail address or the Windows Live Email address. Enter the full email address such as email_id@hotmail.com
- Enter your password in the Password Box. The password should be the one corresponding to the email ID you entered.
- In the Description box, type in a description that will help you identify the account.
- Select Save. A message will appear. It is not necessary so you can click on the Next button. The Next button is locate on the top right of the iPhone.
- Go back to the Accounts and select the option. When the iPhone shows the list of email IDs, select the one you just created.
- The properties page appears on the screen. In the Outgoing Mail Server, select SMPT. In the Primary Server box, type “smtp.live.com”. This is the address of your outgoing mail server.
- Check the following and correct the settings if they do not match the following:
- Server = ON; “USE SSL” = ON; Authentication = “Password”; “Server Port” = 587 or 25.
- Click/Tap two times on the top left corner of the iPhone, where you see SMTP. This will take you to the menu called Advanced. Select the menu.
- Check the “Income Settings”. Make sure the “Use SSL” is ON. Keep “Authentication” to password. Set the “Server Port” to 995.
- Return to the previous menu by tapping the top left corner of the iPhone three times. Click the home button and you are all set. You can now check your hotmail and Windows Live account whenever you want.
