Recent announcement by Microsoft about free POP3 access to Hotmail accounts has opened up the way for configuring Hotmail in Outlook Express. While there are multiple advantages of using the web-based email like the Hotmail, the configuration could allow you to view email once it is offline.
Configuring Hotmail account in Outlook Express
One can store more email and would have no fear of exceeding the hotmail allotted storage space when the hotmail account is configured into outlook express. No need to expand the hotmail storage space will come up in such situation either. Even when the user is offline they can read the email all over again giving a virtual image of coming from the Hotmail account.
Configuration is simple
Configuring Hotmail into Outlook Express is not a very difficult process. It is quite simple. Gathering the Hotmail account information like the username and passwords is necessary. Hotmail uses the HTTP server. Launching Outlook Express follow start/all programs/Outlook Express or clicking the desktop shortcut icon one has to find out the “Tools” menu and then click on the “Accounts” option. Thereafter the user would go to the “add” and “mail” options one after another. In the display box hit the “next” button and then select the HTTP as the incoming mail server. Once the option box comes up the confirmation message should be http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp in the server information box and if not go to the “next” button.
Final touch
Once all the above steps are completed just provide your username and all information relating to login on the next screen that appears and click “next” again and finally hit the “finish” button on the subsequent page. Outlook Express will ask the user whether he wants to download folders that are in the newly configured account. Answering in the confirmative will complete the Hotmail configuration into Outlook Express.
